In 2006 a teacher from Six Nations (Suzie Miller) along with the in-kind support of community agencies, and other community volunteers began a Pen Pal Project between the children in Six Nations and Caledonia/Haldimand County children.

The first year started with 2 classes participating.  In 2009 approximately 250 students participated. In 2010 over 600 students participated representing junior kindergarten to grade seven.  In 2011, 1200 students pen paled!

The students write to each other throughout the year and in June a gathering is held where the pen pals get to meet in person and participate in joint fun activities and cultural exchange.   You can imagine how important this process is in forging relationships and understanding.
