Art 'Traveling Like The Wind'

On June 17th, 2010 local artists from both Haldimand County and Six Nations were invited to come and be witness to the pen pal gathering.  This was an energetic day of relationship building, education, and connection in action.  Artists were offered these questions to consider as they took in the day:

  • What were you drawn to that you heard or saw; that warmed your heart?
  • What image or metaphor came to mind?
  • Where did being witness to the event take you in your thoughts? What does it suggest about what’s possible?
  • What will you take away with you from witnessing this event? What did it give to you?

In response to these questions and inspired by the youth coming together to share and learn we encouraged artists to represent the spirit, partnership, and energy through art. We feel it is important to archive these moments to be shared with others today as well as future generations.  The art will be displayed in a future traveling exhibit highlighting what is possible for generations to come.   The theme for this year is friendships and connections for the future. Some of the artwork by the youth will also be part of this inspiring collection.

Submissions are due by September 3rd, 2010.
